Beth Chamberlin
Giving animals a voice in their health and how they are treated when they have health issues has become my passion. Animals instinctively know how to self heal in their natural world, and I want to re-establish a direct connection to this and bring it into their domestic lives.
I found my way to Applied Zoopharmacognosy when my horse was diagnosed with gastric ulcers. I wanted to find a way to help my horse by exploring how the root causes of this illness could be identified and addressed. I started to look at wild animals for answers and realised that animals have an innate ability to heal themselves. My research led to me Zoopharmacognosy, and how wild animals use medicinal plants and compounds within their environment to bring themselves back into health.
My research and training has enabled me to apply animal self medication in domestic settings, providing consultations and advice to animal owners and other professional practitioners. I have written many articles, given lectures within the UK and internationally and appeared on BBC radio.
